Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art.

It combines elements of martial arts, acrobatics, and music. During class, you’ll train kicks, defense, flexibility, acrobatics, endurance, strength, and speed. In the roda (“circle”), two capoeiristas perform movements in a game of attack and defense, accompanied by live music.
Timing, awareness, and creativity play a key role.

Capoeira originated in Brazil during the period of slavery and colonization. Africans in slavery developed capoeira by blending elements from various African cultures with Brazilian influences, creating something entirely new.
We practice the modern form of capoeira known as “capoeira contemporânea.”
